It's been a lot of Phillies and Harold Reynolds. And at least one of those things will taper off.
The new 24 baseball network has made a pretty good start, but it looks like it's going to only get better with the programming that's been advertised. Ken Burns "Baseball" docu-series will air with a new segment each Tuesday and a series focusing on one team's memorable season are both great ideas.
Hot Stove has been interesting. Mitch Williams has been himself - funny, thorough and unafraid to state his opinion, while Harold Reynolds has been dominant in debates, similar to how he was on ESPN. It's just his personality. Overall the "roster" has been enjoyable.
Note: I love trash talk (this subject came up on Hot Stove as well), but I might have to agree with Chipper Jones that the back and forth between the Phillies and Mets may have hit a low point. Cole Hamels saying the Mets choked seems a bit over the top. The flip side is that that kind of emotion is fun for fans. To quote Chip, "Play your game." I recall Scott Olsen saying he hated the Phillies when he pitched for the Marlins, and always feeling his announcement let the Phils know they were in his head. He never fared particularly well against the Fightins.
In the end, what matters is the W. I would say due to Hamels comment that Mets and Phillies fans, as well as the players, should expect things to go up a couple notches this season. Get your hot dogs ready.
