Cecil Fielder said he was saving Adam Cox for the playoffs and, while he struggled for the first time last night since returning from a minor injury, Cecil confirmed recently that he will be Game One's starter. Atlantic City will now officially face Quebec in Game One, with A.C. going to Quebec. Sussex will face Worcester.
Sussex has some excellent pitching to go up against Worcester's exellent offense, with starting Kyle Ruwe and one of the top closers in the league, Matt Petrusek who has twenty-four saves. Petrusek throws an excellent split-finger fastball. His fastball topped out at around 86.
Surf SS Anthony Granato is playing ridiculous right now. He's leading the team in home runs with thirteen and entered last night hitting .488.
Worcester has been doing some serious record-setting lately.
Chris Collabello and Francisco Caraballo (say those two names, together, real fast) are all over the league-leader boards.
Caraballo leads the league in home runs with twenty-three. While Colabello leads in RBI knocking in seventy-six. Caraballo is right behind Colabello in RBI with seventy-three. Grimes has 131 hits, second in that category, Colabello is fifth with 119. Caraballo is second in triples. And Caraballo and Colabello are second and third n SLG percentage with Caraballo putting up .605 and Colabello .575.
So they can hit a little bit.
Game Three is Friday when they face the Capitales. Games Four and Five may not be neccessary.
